Spoiler Alert: The following article spoilers the entire first season of The Boys: Diabolical.

Kripke confirmed that the finale, “One Plus One Equals Two,” focuses on Homelander’s introduction into The Seven. It also focuses on and with his relationship with Black Noir. The episode then turns as the two as they work to hide one of the biggest accidental massacres on Homelander’s part. As the series came to an end, Kripke told Variety in an interview,

In terms of The Boys: Diabolical’s canonicity, Simon Racioppa (the writer for “One Plus One Equals Two”)  stated that he wants “One Plus One Equals Two” to feel as connected to The Boys as possible.

The finale is canon, yeah. I thought he did such a good job with it. I don’t think we had any specific plans going in for it to be canon. But he did such a good job writing and directing it, that watching it, I was like, This is for sure what happened. There is a certain amount of background setup for really understanding the relationship between Homelander and Black Noir and giving us a deeper understanding for The Boys season 3.

The Boys: Diabolical Canonicity Already Decided

Before the release of The Boys: Diabolical, Kripke teaser that the series would have some ties to its predecessor, other episodes, he stated, would just be “insane.”  Though he didn’t elaborate which episodes would specifically tie in, many online fans were already suggesting The Boys: Diabolical finale.  The Boys producer Seth Rogan and Evan Goldberg served as writers for the eight-episode series.

In regards to The Boys season 3, the filming wrapped up in September 2021. The series has also been picked up for a fourth season. The first episode of season 3 will be available on June 3rd, 2022.
