The series finale of The Mandalorian ended with a button scene depicting Boba Fett and Fennec Shand taking over Jabba the Hutt’s Palace, possibly teasing a new series. Today, Disney confirmed that The Book of Boba Fett is a spin-off series of The Mandalorian.
On Monday, Disney officially announced the news on their Twitter page, “The Book of Boba Fett, a new original series, starring Temuera Morrison and Ming-Na Wen and executive produced by Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni and Robert Rodriguez, set within the timeline of The Mandalorian, is coming to Disney Plus Dec. 2021.”
Disney confirmed that The Mandalorian’s third season will still release December 2021, but The Book of Boba Fett will take place during the same timeline. As of this writing, it is still unclear as to whether or not the Boba Fett will be a one-off event, like Kenobi, or if it will follow the former bounty hunter over various series.
This spin-off series is not the only Star Wars series to have been announced recently. Disney recently announced a plethora of content during their Investor’s Day like Rangers of the New Republic, Lando, The Acolyte, Andor, The Bad Batch, Visions, and Ahsoka.
The Book of Boba Fett is set to start streaming on Disney+ in December 2021.
