For a few months now, the rumor surrounding Matt Reeves’ The Batman was that the film would feature Catwoman and The Penguin as the primary antagonists. Well, we can add a few more names to that list of rumored villains as Discussing Film, THR, and GWW are reporting that the film could potentially feature up to six antagonists.

We should start with GWW who reported that Firefly, The Riddler, Catwoman, and The Penguin would be featured in The Batman. The site also gave out some casting info and brief character descriptions for each of these rogues. Discussing Film would later add on to this report, stating that Two-Face and Mad Hatter would make appearances in the film as well. Finally, we have The Hollywood Reporter. One source told THR that The Batman would feature 6 antagonists, seemingly collaborating the GWW and Discussing Film reports.

Before we go any further, none of this information has been confirmed by Warner Bros. or director Matt Reeves. Spider-Man 3 and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 are two prime examples of how not to handle a superhero movie with a ton of villains. If at least half of this information is correct, The Batman is set to be jam-packed full of Batman rogues and could potentially become a disaster. Maybe Reeves plans to use many of these rouges as cameos, maybe we’re getting an Arkham Asylum adaptation, or maybe all of these reports listed above are completely wrong. The only thing we officially know about the film is that Robert Pattinson will be playing the Dark Knight as a younger iteration of the character who has already begun his tenure as Batman.

The Batman is currently set to hit theaters in June 2021.
