HBO Max’s Doom Patrol has officially released the first trailer for season 4, which will feature the Doom Patrol facing off against a new enemy and a larger threat that will require the group of misfits to take drastic action that may include traveling back in time. Brendan Fraser, Matt Bomer, April Bowlby, Diane Guerrero, Joivan Wade, and Michelle Gomez will all return for the fourth season.

First premiering in 2018 and moving to HBO Max in 2020, Doom Patrol is centered around a group of the most shunned, outcast individuals in the DC Universe – which is saying something. Each member of the ragtag group was, at one point or another, subject to a horrible accident that gave them supernatural abilities but also left them traumatized and disfigured, either mentally or physically.

The Doom Patrol roster includes Robotman (Fraser), a NASCAR driver whose brain was transplanted into a robot after a horrific crash; Elasti-Woman (Guerrero), an ex-Hollywood starlet who has trouble keeping her body from turning into a goo-like substance after she was exposed to a toxic gas, and Negative Man (Bomer), an Air Force pilot whose body contains a negative radioactive spirit. Jovian Wade also appears as Vic Stone, aka Cyborg, alongside Michelle Gomez as Madame Rogue, a shapeshifting ex-criminal and the newest addition to the Doom Patrol as of season 3.

‘Doom Patrol’ Returns in Season 4 Trailer

The first season of HBO Max’s Doom Patrol saw the ragtag team defeat Mr. Nobody (Alan Tudyk), an omnipotent, dimension-hopping supervillain, while season 2 saw the debut of the Candlemaker (Lex Lang), a dangerous and ancient entity accidentally awoken by the Chief (Timothy Dalton), the medical caretaker of the Doom Patrol. The most recent third season, which concluded in November 2021, saw the introduction of the Brotherhood of Evil and Madame Rogue, a shapeshifter with ties to the Brotherhood and the Chief.

According to the latest trailer for season 4 of Doom Patrol, the newest season will pick up where season 3 left off, with the team taking an unexpected trip to the future and being faced with an “unexpected surprise,” per Collider. The main villain of the season is currently unknown, though the Immortus Project is mentioned as the pursuit of immortality, with Willoughby Kipling (Mark Sheppard) warning that “Something very big and very dangerous is headed our way. Immortus is real, and it’s coming. We are wandering into the literal end of days as we speak.”
