The past, present, and future of The Mad Titan are explored in Thanos: Death Notes. Marvel is publishing a special one-shot focused on the villain this November. An all-star lineup of creators contributes to this oversized issue that looks at where Thanos began and where he is going.

What Do We Know About Thanos: Death Notes?

The mega-sized one-shot will branch off from the current Donny Cates and Nic Klein Thor run. In that series, Thor recently witnessed a terrifying future involving Thanos. Therefore, the God of Thunder vowed to stop such a future, no matter what it takes. Now, an all-star team of creators will explore that future and how Thanos gets there. The creative team includes Michael Straczynski, Torunn Gronbekk, Kyle Starks, Christopher Cantwell, Andrea Di Vito, and Travel Foreman. It also includes one of Thanos’ most definitive artists, Ron Lim.

Currently, Thanos is missing from the Marvel Universe. After the events of Kieron Gillen and Esad Ribic’s Eternals, nobody has seen the Mad Titan. However, after his horrifying vision of the future, Thor is determined to stop Thanos at any cost. In Thanos: Death Notes, the God of Thunder searches for answers to the Mad Titan’s past.

What Did Thor See?

In Thor #6, the God of Thunder witnessed his own death. The Black Winter showed Thor his death at the hands of Thanos wielding an Infinity Stones imbued Mjolnir. He also saw a new, black Infinity Stone. Since then, Thor has slowly been working to prevent this future from happening.

Editor Will Moss shares with Marvel that this Thanos one-shot will continue Thor’s quest to stop his own death. It will bring him to Thanos’ past to find answers on how to stop the Mad Titan. However, in searching in the past, Thor may discover that Thanos truly is inevitable.

Big things are unraveling in this one-shot.
