Today, a new Xbox Game Showcase started off Japan’s annual Tokyo Game Show 2020. As they promised, there’s no new information about Xbox Series X but there is a number of updates for already-released and upcoming games. Let’s take a look at everything that was announced in the TGS 2020 Xbox Game Showcase.
Microsoft Flight Simulator Japan World Update
Microsoft Flight Simulator is getting its first ‘World Update’ expansion. This update will take off on September 29, featuring:
- Upgraded digital elevation map for Japan areas.
- High-resolution 3D photogrammetry for six prominent Japanese cities: Sendai, Takamatsu, Tokushima, Tokyo, Utsunomiya, and Yokohama.
- Six handcrafted local airports: Hachijojima, Kerama, Kushiro, Nagasaki, Shimojishima, and Suwanosejima.
- Three new Landing Challenges for Japanese airports.
TGS 2020: Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 Release Date
A direct sequel to the first game, Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 is set to launch to Xbox One and Xbox Series X platforms via Smart Delivery on December 8. The preorder also opens today. The game will offer single-player Adventure mode, ranked Online matches, and couch-competition Versus or Free Play for up to four players. Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 will be released on PS5, PS4, Switch, and Steam as well.
R-TYPE FINAL 2 TGS 2020 Xbox Game Showcase Trailer
The classic side-scrolling shooter franchise is back and is coming to the Xbox Series X and Xbox One for the first time in Spring 2021. R-TYPE FINAL 2 is being developed by Granzella, composed of ex-Irem staff. The game will also be released on PS4, Switch, and Steam.
RPG Time: The Legend of Wright
Developed by budding Japanese indie developer DESK WORKS, RPG Time: The Legend of Wright is a hand-drawn RPG set to be released on the Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Android, and iOS. In RPG Time‘s official site, you can draw some doodles and if you’re lucky the developers might include them in their game.
Balan Wonderworld Release Date
Developed by Square Enix’s new The Balan Company team, Balan Wonderworld is a 3D platformer helmed by Yuji Naka and Naoto Oshima of Sonic the Hedgehog fame with a musical theatre theme. The game is coming to PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, Switch, and PC through Steam. Previously they have teased the release date, but today’s TGS 2020 Xbox Game Showcase has confirmed that Balan Wonderworld is launching on March 26, 2021.
TGS 2020 Xbox Game Showcase Confirms Three New Titles Optimized for Series X/S
The Xbox team has confirmed that three games will get “forward compatibilities” for Xbox Series X and Series S under the ‘Optimized for Series X/S‘ banner on November 10, 2021:
- Tetris Effect: Connected.
- Samurai Spirits.
- Bright Memory v1.0.
Bright Memory Infinite Release Window
The more complete version of Bright Memory v1.0, this fast-paced FPS is set in a futuristic metropolis in the year 2036. A strange phenomenon has been occurring in the skies around the world. When the Supernatural Science Research Organization sent their agents to investigate it, they discovered that these strange occurrences are connected to an archaic mystery. Developed by one-man team FYQD Studio, it will launch in the first half of 2021.
