Tessa Thompson and Joseph Gordon-Levitt will come together to star in the Flying Lotus (Steven Ellison) directed sci-fi thriller called Ash. The rapper and filmmaker will direct and compose the score for the film. It will be penned by Jonni Remmler. They will begin shooting in New Zealand next year.
In the Flying Lotus film, Joseph Gordon-Levitt must rescue Tessa Thompson. She plays a woman who finds herself on a planet and soon discovers she is alone as the rest of her crew from their space station have been murdered. Now, she must decide if it is safe or not to trust the Inception actor’s character. For him, he questions her innocence as they investigate the murders.
Flying Lotus to direct a movie with Tessa Thompson and Joseph Gordon-Levitt
While the two leads have had massive film careers, Flying Lotus is newer to the scene. The rapper made his directorial debut with 2017’s Kuso, which he also composed. He co-wrote the film too with David Firth (Salad Fingers). It starred Firth with Hannibal Buress (Spider-Man: No Way Home). Most recently, he directed the segment in V/H/S/99 titled Ozzy’s Dungeon.
Besides the upcoming project with Flying Lotus, Tessa Thompson and Joseph Gordon-Levitt have kept busy. The former reprised her role as Valkyrie in Thor: Love and Thunder and wrapped the latest season of Westworld. Next year, she will be in The Listener and Creed III. Meanwhile, her co-star was in The Trial of the Chicago 7 and the series Super Pumped. He will star in Rian Johnson’s upcoming series Poker Face and Disney’s Pinocchio, not to be confused with the upcoming Guillermo del Toro film later this year.
The Flying Lotus film with Tessa Thompson and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ash, has no current release date. With its 2023 filming window, fans of the two stars and rapper will have to be patient.
