After more than two years in Early Access, Temtem was officially released on September 6th. It has been quite a journey for everyone. The developers, the players, and the game. One thing that we noticed throughout the Early Access period is how well the developers listened to the community. They did a lot of changes prior to the release of Temtem‘s 1.0 version. Yet, one of the changes that players didn’t like and is netting the game some mixed reviews is Temtem‘s battle pass. This is a trend that has invaded a lot of games and it seems that Temtem isn’t an exception.

Temtem’s Battle Pass Has Free and Premium Tiers

With the official release of Temtem‘s 1.0 version, players are jumping in to play the game. This game, which is a Pokemon clone, and developers aren’t shy about that, changes the formula a bit. It is an MMO that has things like double battles, an end-game area, and even housing. Things that we’d hope Pokemon would implement one day. While Nintendo is trying to add new things like an open world and more freedom when choosing stories, Temtem offers a lot more features. Yet, if there is one thing players don’t want is what Temtem‘s battle pass is doing. While it doesn’t affect the game or turn it into pay-to-win, players are not so happy about it.

Temtem: How to Enable Cross-Progression

The majority of players are review-bombing the game right now because it adds a monetization aspect. However, Temtem‘s developers have stated that they will never make the game pay-to-win. That means no boosters or things to make the game easier if you buy the premium version. Players who have the Temtem 1.0 version will see the battle pass. There are two tiers. One is free and you can earn around 20 rewards if you complete it and the other one is the premium one. This one has all rewards and comes with 60 of them for you to work on. Another thing that players are complaining about is how slow it is to progress on the battle pass, claiming it might be impossible to finish.

Thankfully, the things there are only cosmetic and it is purely optional. Given how much the developers listen to their community, it remains to be seen if they’ll change this in the future or stick to the battle pass model like Fortnite and many more.
