When Telltale Games shut its doors back in September last year, things looked bleak for their version of The Walking Dead. Nobody seemed to know what was happening. It was first announced that some staff had been kept on to finish the final season of The Walking Dead and things were good, at least as good as they could have been. Then things got worse as the remaining staff was let go and the final season The Walking Dead was set to end after episode 2.

Thankfully, Skybound stepped in to complete the season as promised. In March that promise was delivered and we got to see the end of Clementine’s adventure. Skybound isn’t ready to say goodbye to the series just yet as today they announced details for the definitive collection. The Walking Dead: The Telltale Definitive Series will release on September 10th at a cost of $49.99.

Creative director Kent Mudle had this to say about the art style:

Take a look at the trailer below:

Being honest, I can’t say I’m really all that excited about the new art style. I would have enjoyed a black and white filter, but that’s just me. Considering the first season of The Walking Dead premiered back in 2012 on the previous generation of consoles, it’s nice that this collection brings everything together in one place, making the series accessible to old and new fans alike.

For me, The Walking Dead hit its peak in season 1, Lee’s story was some of the best storytelling in video game history, with an ending that I still remember clearly. If any new fans haven’t managed to play the early season, this collection is perfect.
