Telltale Games’ Batman title is set to launch “quite soon” according to the developer at E3 2016. Batman: The Telltale Series – Episode 1 has been set for a June launch for a while, but no specific date was given by the developer at all. However, at a preview at E3 2016 they very coyly said that it would arrive “soon…actually quite soon”, implying that the release would surprise use with how quickly it would arrive. Of course, as Telltale fans know, Episode 1 is just the beginning, with four more episodes to come afterward. They addressed this too though, with some very nice promises.

Apparently the current plan is to have all five episodes of Batman: The Telltale Series out by the end of this year. That would be just under an episode per month going forward. If Episode 1 hits “quite soon” as the developer said, then each successive episode would have just over a month before it would need to release, if they want to remain on schedule.

This is Telltale though, and schedules were made to be broken. We could see a re-write and a delay as we did with Tales from the Borderlands, or the episodes might just take longer to come together than anticipated. Anything can happen, especially with this being the first title to use the developer’s updated engine.

We’ve criticized recent Telltale releases for being very unstable technically, and featuring very outdated visuals in multiple arenas. This updated engine promises major improvements, though to see if they delivered on this promise or not you’ll have to check out our impressions of Batman from E3 2016 when they release later on. Be sure to check for that, as well as all of our other E3 coverage, whenever you can.

Batman: The Telltale Series will begin this month on most major platforms.
