Early today, Paramount released a statement that they are reviving the popular television show Teen Wolf in the form of a movie on their streaming platform. MTV’s show revolving around Scott McCall’s trials as a werewolf premiered in 2011 and starred Tyler Posey and Dylan O’Brien. The show was an adaptation of the 1985 film of the same name starring Michael J. Fox and was a smashing success for the network.

Paramount implies that the movie was something the fans were clamoring for. “We’ve heard your howls and we’re howling back,” the network tweeted in the announcement. Original creator Jeff Daniels has signed for the deal and is writing and producing the film. Most exciting of all is that there are reports of original cast members returning after the series ended in 2017. Naturally, there is speculation as to who the teens will be in the movie revival as the original cast has aged out.

All actors are remaining tight-lipped considering this recent news. Tyler Posey, Melissa Ponzio, and Colton Haynes have all tweeted out responses to the news.

What Teen Wolf Cast Members Are Returning?

The most exciting prospect of this movie is all the potential characters to return. There has been turnover in the past. Crystal Reed was one of the first main characters to leave the show in season three in the devastating act of killing her character off. She has returned in the past during flashbacks so it is unclear how they will honor her character.

Most pressing is the question of Dylan O’Brien. He is the most famous of the teens to come out of the show. He quickly rose in the ranks after being cast in the Maze Runner trilogy and was the voice of Transformers own Bumblebee. More recently his film Love and Monsters was released during the pandemic. A post-apocalyptic love story, Dylan O’Brien may not be averse to returning even though he had noticeably less screen time in the final season of Teen Wolf.

More information is sure to come. Paramount stated that the Teen Wolf movie will be streaming on the network in 2022.
