Legends of Runeterra is still reeling off of its latest expansion, Cosmic Creations, which introduced plenty of new units, landmarks, champions, and spells and released just last month. Now, however, it seems that there may be yet another expansion on the horizon. With the upcoming League of Legends season, there may also be more content introduced to Legends of Runeterra.

Riot has been teasing the idea that there is more in store for fans of LoR, specifically in a tweet today that said, “Mysteries will be unearthed. Legends of Runeterra joins the Season 2021 Opening Day livestream.”

With the tagline “Mysteries will be unearthed” it is entirely possible that we will see a new region of Runeterra come into play, Shurima. Shurima is the desert kingdom, home to many different champions like Azir, Nasus, Renekton, Rammus, the often forgotten Skarner, and many more. All of these champions may possibly be revealed during the Season 2021 livestream on January 8.

Further proof that there will be content is continued promotion to “See what’s in the cards for 2021.” Despite the fact that Cosmic Creations was focused on Targon, we still saw cards across multiple different regions. It is possible that this update will go beyond Shurima and introduce new balance changes and mechanics.

Since these are just teasers, at this point it’s anyone’s guess what content we will see come January 8.
