The teaser trailer for Peacemaker was released this afternoon during DC FanDome. The trailer for the series showcases the ridiculous antics of John Cena’s hilarious yet arrogant anti-hero from The Suicide Squad. You can find the teaser for the series below!

The teaser trailer features the titular character waking up in the hospital after the events of the movie. He is then recruited, involuntarily, by Amanda Waller’s aides to work with them in killing “bad people” rather than get sent to prison.

Audiences got to see this team together for the first time in a clip released by HBO Max on October 4. While that clip showcased the team making fun of Peacemaker’s flamboyant apparel and outlandish behavior, this one featured Leota Adebayo (Danielle Brooks) having some pity on him and noticing something “sad.” This comes right before we see Peacemaker meeting up with his father (Robert Patrick) who refers to him as a “nancy boy.”

This somewhat more emotional look at the character is sure to be interesting. AV Club is reporting that the trailer seems to suggest a deeper look into the character’s skewed psychology. The character is a complicated one, like many of the members of the Suicide Squad. He has been described as an anti-hero who will kill if he thinks it’s for the good of the world. While a seemingly noble cause, there’s certainly some fogginess in his reasoning to say the least.

Despite the emotional or psychological aspects, the trailer suggests that the show will still remain comedy-heavy. This is based on the footage we see of Peacemaker’s talk on “butt babies,” getting a hug from his mascot Eagly, and whether you want to see it or not, Peacemaker dancing in his underwear.

The trailer also gave us a look at Vigilante, a fellow masked killer with a “noble purpose” portrayed by Freddie Stroma. While he’s fully masked in this trailer, FanDome also treated us to a funny behind-the-scenes reel with Stroma’s face on full display.
