Publisher PLAYISM and developer Orbital Express announced today that Tasomachi: Behind the Twilight launches on PC in just over a week on April 14, 2021.

News of Tasomachi first emerged back at the NewGame+ Expo in June last year, wowing us with an exquisite art style that marries elements of Genshin Impact, Thekla’s Myst-inspired The Witness, and anime. Inspired by the East Asian culture, art, geography, and late-90’s collect-a-thon platformers, Tasomachi is described by Orbital Express as a ‘gorgeous 3D exploration platformer set in a mysterious Far-Eastern fantasy world.’ Japanese artist-turned-developer nocras spearheads the project, leveraging their experience on games such as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, and Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn.

As nocras notes about their switch to development:

Tasomachi – ‘A Gorgeous 3D Exploration Platformer’

Tasomachi puts players in the shoes of Yukumo, an explorer who crash lands in a curious town populated by a feline-like tribe called the Nezu. From there, the player must tackle dungeons, pass platforming sections, complete quests assigned by the Nezu, and collect resources and collectibles to fix up Yokumo’s downed airship. With the airship repaired, Yukumo expands their exploration to new areas, including ancient temples, gardens bursting with cherry-blossom, and snow-capped peaks.

Tasomachi: Behind The Twilight lands on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, via Steam and GOG with Japanese, English, and Chinese localization.
