Yesterday was a big day for Marvel as the movie studio revealed its Phase 4 of movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe at San Diego Comic Con’s Hall H panel. Judging by the new slate of films, there is a lot that fans have to look forward to over the next few years. Phase 4 is going to give us a new Blade movie, reboots for Fantastic Four and Marvel, a Doctor Strange movie focusing on the Multiverse, and several shows premiering exclusively for Disney Plus. It is all set to cap off in 2020 with a long-anticipated Black Widow movie.

Black Widow director Cate Shortland graced the audience alongside the film’s cast, which includes Scarlett Johansson, Florence Pugh, David Harbour, Rachel Weisz, and O-T Fagbenie. The film itself has only been in production for a month now, but that was enough time for the cast and crew to cook up an exclusive sneak preview of the movie for the Hall H audience. The footage showcased Black Widow (Johansson) returning to Budapest following the events of Captain America: Civil War, where she gets in a fight with Yelena Belova (Pugh). They then share a drink.

The clip ended with Natasha fighting a man in a metal mask wielding a sword and shield. It was clear to the spectating audience that this was none other than The Taskmaster.

We saw a trailer for Black Widow where Nat returns to Budapest after Civil War and fights Yelena before sharing a drink with her sister. Then Nat fights Taskmaster who has a shield!

For those unfamiliar with the character, Taskmaster is a comic book supervillain (sometimes anti-hero) whose superpower is that he can mimic another person’s performance perfectly just by watching. He demonstrated this power in the Black Widow trailer when they were fighting and he perfectly mirrored her every move. Like Black Widow, Taskmaster is an assassin and master of disguise. He also opens a training facility to train other criminals.

While it was not revealed who exactly will be playing Taskmaster in the movie, the movie itself is set to kick of MCU’s Phase 4 on May 1st, 2020.
