Tammy Slaton’s Breathing Stopped While In Rehab
Tammy Slaton almost died after her breath seized in the middle of the night while at rehab in the 1000-Lb. Sisters premiere. The reality TV star takes out her speaking valve every night when she goes to bed, preventing her from talking. At midnight, a nurse came to check on the 1000-Lb star after the monitors went off, but Tammy wasn’t breathing. A blockage in her trach prevented her lungs from getting oxygen.
“Last night, I literally about died,” Tammy admitted. Her oxygen level dropped to 20, and she began blacking out. “I could not breathe at all,” Tammy said. “I was about gone.”
Thankfully, the nurse successfully suctioned the mucus plug before it was too late. Although Tammy tried to make light of the situation, she was honest about how much it scared her.
Tammy Slaton Wants To Lose Weight
Tammy returned to rehab two months ago after finding out that she weighed the most she’s ever weighed: 717 pounds. At one point, her oxygen levels dropped. She was taken to the hospital and put in a medically-induced coma. “I was septic,” Tammy said.
Tammy also admitted that she is determined to get better now.
Tammy now has a trach in her throat. When her siblings, Chris and Amanda, went to visit her when she went back to rehab, she told them, “I told y’all when y’all see me again, I wasn’t gonna be that same person.”
Tammy told them she wanted to get better and won’t give up. She also told them she wanted to get weight loss surgery.
However, Chris was a little hesitant to believe that Tammy was serious about losing weight. This is the second time she’s been on a ventilator for multiple days.
Dr. Eric Smith further disclosed that Tammy recently lost about 100 pounds, but much of it was medically induced. Tammy also has a new goal to get down to 550 pounds.
The 1000-Lb Sisters star thinks it is possible and claimed she has a “different outlook” after being hospitalized. She wants to live her life and be truly healthy.
Since Tammy Slaton’s breathing stopped, she is now more determined to do all she can to be healthy. Hopefully, this latest incident pushes her to go through with her plans this time.
