Questing and slaying enemies is an exciting part of RPGs, especially when you get invested in the game’s storyline. Sometimes, though, it is nice to relax and take a short break. Whether that’s by decorating a house, cooking, or raising a pet, stepping away from quests can make your gaming experience much more refreshing. In Tales of Arise, fishing is a great example of a relaxing side activity that you can spend time in if you want to detour from traveling the world and slaying bosses. By the end of this guide, you will learn how to fish in Tales of Arise.

How to Fish in Tales of Arise

It will take some time for you to unlock fishing. You will need to play through the main story until Kisara joins your party. When Kisara joins your party, head to the nearby campsite to watch a cutscene of Kisara teaching you how to fish. After the cutscene ends, you can start looking for fishing spots to unlock.

Once you find a fishing spot, you will need to select the rod and lure that you plan on fishing with. Both of these will impact the type of fish you catch, the quality, and how easy it will be to catch the fish. Once you select your rod and lure, look for a spot in the water where fish appear and cast your line on that spot. The blue marker of your line will appear yellow when you find the right location.

A minigame will pop up once you pick your spot. You want to press the right buttons to move the fish towards the green circle on the left side of the line. The buttons you press, and the order you press them, will determine what fish you catch. Once you reel a fish in, a bar will show up while attempt to reel the fish in. You will see arrows appear above the line. This means you need to move your Rod Controls button or controller stick in that direction. You will need to deplete the life bar above the fish. Once this bar is empty, you will successfully catch the fish!
