With the release of Thor: Love and Thunder, it puts up to question when fans see the God of Thunder next. When talking to Insider, Taika Waititi said Thor 5 would be possible for him to do if presented with the opportunity. The only thing he needs to return would be if Chris Hemsworth is in it, which with the text at the end of the latest film saying he would return, seems to guarantee we will get more of the character.

Taika Waititi Willing to Direct ‘Thor 5’

While it seems like a no-brainer that Hemsworth would return as he has made it clear he is committed to the role for the long haul. Despite that, he and the director had no idea he would return until that title card came at the end of the credits, like most Marvel films that said he would return.

For the future, it is not a concrete deal that Taika Waititi will direct Thor 5, even if there is another standalone film and Marvel only has the character appear in more collaborative films. The director will be busy without it as he is planning on his Star Wars movie. All we know about the project is that he wants to have it not be connected to previous films. Ahead of that, he has Next Goal Wins in 2023, his Tower of Terror film, a mystery drama titled Akira, and a sci-fi comedy adaption of Jean ‘Moebius’ Giraud and Alejandro Jodorowsky’s graphic novel The Incal.

Thor: Love and Thunder has been divisive among fans and critics, especially compared to the acclaimed Ragnarok. Despite its middling reviews, the film had a strong opening weekend with $302 million worldwide. The film stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tessa Thompson, Christian Bale, Russell Crowe, and the director reprising his role as Korg.
