The fan-favorite Tactics Ogre’s remaster called Tactics Ogre: Reborn was leaked only a few months ago when a trademark from Square Enix went public. Players were looking forward to official word relating to the game, and today it was finally confirmed along with a trailer.

Square Enix’s Tactics Ogre: Reborn is an old-fashioned tactical isometric RPG of yore. The original game made by Quest Corporation came out in 1993 on the SNES and flew under the radar of most people at the time. Regardless, the game was still considered a success due to how it pushed the tactics genre forward with some of its new ideas.

Quest Corporation was then bought out by Square Enix, and the franchise got a handful of new games, two of which were spinoffs.

Improvements Over the Original Tactics Ogre

Tactics Ogre: Reborn is based on the 2010 release and brings some big changes without shaking up the core game too much. Along with significant improvements to the visuals and audio, the remake also improves upon the game design while promising to “remain true to its roots.” While the visual changes are impressive, the audio has been improved by re-recording the entire musical score and making all dialogues fully voice-acted in both English and Japanese.

Changes to the AI have also been made in Tactics Ogre: Reborn, making the battles more comparable to more current games in the same genre. Square Enix detailed that you can “enjoy numerous playability improvements, such as a quicker pace of battle, auto-save, and a complete overhaul to the controls and UI to make it easier to get into the game than ever.”

When Do Players Get Their Hands On It

Tactics Ogre: Reborn will be hitting PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC (Steam) on November 11 with both physical and digital editions. Square Enix will launch the game with a Collectors Edition for the greatest of fans.
