Chinese independent video game developer Wangyuan Shengtang & Aurogon has partnered with publisher Gameforge (AION, NosTale, OGame, Metin2, TERA) to bring the highly popular Swords of Legends Online MMORPG to gamers in the West. The game is currently scheduled to launch later this year officially and is now available to pre-order via the Gameforge client and Steam.

Swords of Legends Online’s (SOLO) official announcement was accompanied by two beautiful trailers (embedded below) showcasing both story and gameplay. According to the announcement, SOLO is a unique saga based on legendary Chinese mythology, as well as “the massively popular Chinese legends that inspired the multi-award-winning television series, several movies, novels, and a series of games including the recent MMORPG Gu Jian Qi Tan Online.” The version on its way to North American, Latin American, and European gamers has been fully remastered and improved upon from the source material while keeping the game’s rich Chinese history, lore, epic story, and rousing combat action intact.

Swords of Legends Online features:

  • An ancient and mythical Chinese folklore setting with “an engaging, turbulent narrative, and memorable characters” and hours of professional voice-acted cutscenes.
  • Six starting player classes: Bard, Berserker, Reaper, Spearmaster, Spellsword, and Summoner. Each class has its own origin story, unique playstyle, and two skill specializations.
  • Customizable floating islands as player housing, where you can live and meet with friends in between quests.
  • An extraordinary variety of flying mounts.
  • A multitude of quests, multiplayer dungeons, PvP, and 20-player raids.

At launch, SOLO will be available for Windows PC through the Gameforge client, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. You can pre-order SOLO now from the Gameforge site and Steam in three editions: Standard, Deluxe, and Collectors. If you do pre-order, you’ll get bonuses that include an exclusive in-game cosmetic item, access to the closed beta, and be able to reserve your character’s name before the official game launch.
