Arguably the most anticipated Star Wars project since Disney acquired the rights is the Obi-Wan Kenobi-led event series coming to Disney+. The show will feature the long-awaited return of Ewan McGregor as Kenobi and Hayden Christensen as Darth Vader. The show will pick up ten years after Order 66 and the purge of the Jedi. As Star Wars fans know, not all Jedi were killed in the attack. Obi-Wan Kenobi opens the door for some survivors to return, as well as old friends from beyond the grave.
7. Cal Kestis
The canon video game Jedi: Fallen Order follows young Jedi Cal Kestis and takes place five years after the events of Revenge of the Sith. In it, Cal Kestis remembers what it takes to be a Jedi and sets out to revive the order he was once a part of. The game happened five years before Obi-Wan Kenobi is set to occur, so it makes sense for Cal to appear. In the years since the game, Cal could have grown stronger and much more skilled, making him a worthy ally to Kenobi. Cameron Monaghan voiced Cal, and the character model resembles him. Monaghan would be a perfect choice to reprise the role in live-action.
6. Yoda
While it is unlikely fans will get to see Yoda in action again, it is very possible he will appear in the show in some capacity. Yoda survived Order 66 when he sensed his Clone Troopers were turning on him and took them out before they could react. After a defeat at the hands of Darth Sidious, Yoda went into hiding. He remained on Dagobah until Luke Skywalker arrived seeking training. Jedi were stretched thin throughout the galaxy, so it makes little sense that Kenobi and Yoda didn’t keep some sort of contact with one another. Even if just a cameo, fans would love to see the legendary master return.
5. Ahsoka Tano
Ahsoka has appeared in every live-action Star Wars show so far, and Obi-Wan Kenobi is the one that makes the most sense. Obi-Wan and Ahsoka were close during the Clone Wars, and both of them share the pain of losing Anakin to the Dark Side. Not much is known about what happened to Anakin’s former apprentice between the Clone Wars and her appearance in Rebels. This series could bridge the gap, as well as lead into the upcoming Ahsoka series. If she does appear, she likely won’t face Vader, but seeing her interact with Kenobi in live-action will be the best kind of fan service.
4. Kanan Jarrus
Ahsoka Tano successfully made the jump from animation to live-action. This opened the possibility for other animated Star Wars characters to make an appearance as well. The one that arguably makes the most sense is Kanan Jarrus from Star Wars: Rebels. Like Cal Kestis, Jarrus survived Order 66 when his master sacrificed himself to ensure he made it out safely. After this, Jarrus became a smuggler and renounced his Jedi ways. Seeing him in live-action is something Rebels fans had wanted ever since the possibility presented itself when The Ghost, the ship from Rebels, appeared in Rouge One and Rise of Skywalker.
3. Luminara Unduli
Jedi Master Luminara Unduli is perhaps one of the most tragic characters to come out of the Star Wars canon. Sometime before the events of Star Wars: Rebels, she was captured and killed by the Empire. Her body was later used as bait to trap the crew of The Ghost. Regardless of her brutal fate, she did indeed survive Order 66. It isn’t entirely known when the Empire finally executed her, so she could very well appear in Obi-Wan Kenobi. Her own padawan turned against the Jedi Order when she bombed the Jedi Temple. This is something Kenobi can more than relate to, so having them interact will add some comfort to the aging Jedi Master.
2. Anakin Skywalker
Obviously, Anakin Skywalker will appear in the show in the form of Darth Vader. While the appearance of the legendary baddie excites fans, seeing the man before Vader will excite them as well. Through flashbacks or visions, Anakin could appear and share some scenes with his former master. Obi-Wan Kenobi blames himself for what happened to Anakin and the Jedi Order. It makes perfect sense that he would be haunted by his past and frequently think of his former friend. Hayden Christensen is already confirmed to appear, and fans would love to see him outside the suit. Perhaps he could even be seen in action. Seeing new footage of Obi-Wan and Anakin fighting side by side through flashbacks is something fans have wanted for years.
1. Qui-Gon Jinn
Obi-Wan Kenobi had to quickly learn how to fend for himself when his master, Qui-Gon, was killed by Darth Maul. Soon after, he takes on Anakin as his apprentice, meaning he has little time to grieve. While Qui-Gon died years before Order 66 even took place, he can still appear. Qui-Gon has, as Yoda put it, “learned the path to immortality.” Qui-Gon already reappeared in Clone Wars as a force ghost. Seeing him appear in live-action for the first time since 1999 will be a real treat for fans. Liam Neeson voiced Qui-Gon’s force ghost in Clone Wars, so it stands to reason he would be up for a cameo in this series. Yoda said Qui-Gon would appear to Obi-Wan while he is in exile, so it makes sense to assume fans will see him return.
