Contrary to how the character seemed, Castiel’s actor is an extremely vibrant person. This, combined with a love for food and culture, is what spurned Misha Collins to start Roadfood. Collins has always been extremely friendly to fans at conventions, so it’s no surprise he can fit this role. It gives him the perfect excuse to invite himself to a nice meal in the area and get to know the people there. With his bubbly personality ever present, every episode of Roadfood ends with a smile.
Misha Collins has mentioned that this food travel show is inspired by travel books of the same name. Created by Jane and Michael Stern, Roadfood is a series of ten books that began in 1977. Though a lot has changed since then, he believes he can channel their vision of close-knit relations with small communities and family-run restaurants. Thankfully, Misha Collins has Michael Stern’s encyclopedic food knowledge and experience on hand to help him get started. Of course, due to COVID limitations, Collins and the crew for Roadfood have been extremely careful so far. That said, if you’re looking for a new food travel show, this is a good place to start.
