As far as puzzle games go, fans of the genre often gravitate towards first-person puzzlers due to the opportunities it presents. The Portal series started that trend, the effects of that being felt to this day. One such first-person puzzler is Superliminal, which has been on Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and the Epic Games Store for some time. Its got some great reviews, including one from fellow writer Johnny. Now, it’s time for users on Steam to experience the title as well. Superliminal arrives on Steam on November 5th, including some new features exclusive to the store. You can check out the Steam announcement trailer for the game below.
What is Superliminal?
Superliminal focuses on the perception of various objects to create its puzzles, messing with your brain in ways unseen in other titles. You awaken in a lucid dream, after falling asleep to a dream therapy commercial. To your surprise, you’ve begun it and are now in a dream-filled world, where everything is as it seems for better or worse. You must traverse this world, understanding your perception and using it to your advantage. How will you think outside the box to answer these mind-bending puzzles?
As mentioned previously, the Steam version of Superliminal comes with features exclusive to the platform. Steam Achievements and Remote Play Link are two interesting additions, but most interesting of all is Steam Workshop integration. Developer Pillow Castle Games has yet to give many details on what this entails, but that integration is key to the longevity of games like Team Fortress 2 and A Hat in Time. It’ll be interesting to see how they utilize the feature with Superliminal.
