Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is seemingly celebrating the release of Pokémon Sword and Shield this week by having a new tournament that will center on the playable Pokémon characters in the game.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is a crossover, fighting game that features the most famous fictional characters in gaming. While Ultimate primarily stars Nintendo characters, it also contains many prominent characters that are owned by other companies. Characters like Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy VII and Solid Snake from Metal Gear are among the playable roster. Recently, Ultimate become the best-selling fighting video game ever.

Pokémon Sword and Shield are the upcoming new titles in the top-rated Pokémon franchise. The games are going to release this Friday, and it seems like Ultimate is going to celebrate the release date with a new tournament centering on Pokémon.

Ultimate will have online tournaments where players from all over can compete against one and another to see who the best is. The Tournaments usually have a theme, and that theme will force participating players to follow specific guidelines. For example, the heavyweight tournament only allowed gamers to play as the heaviest characters in the game.
