When The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword debuted on the Nintendo Wii back in 2011, critics heralded it as one of the greatest video games of its generation. Between its lovely painterly art style, charming cast of characters, in-depth motion controls, and genuinely heartwarming story, it seemed like a surefire hit across the board. Yet as time has passed, discourse on Skyward Sword seems to have cooled down significantly. In fact, part of the reason The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is so masterful — and so successful that it’s getting a direct sequel we still know relatively little about — is because the developers of Skyward Sword took to heart the feedback they heard from less enthusiastic players....

Another AAA game makes its way to Nintendo’s console. With a little more than a couple of months left before it releases, Obsidian has announced that there upcoming open world RPG title, The Outer Worlds, will be launching for the Nintendo Switch. However, it won’t be releasing on the same day as the already announced systems, October 25. Instead it will come out sometime later, presumably during the Holidays. Senior Producer, Matthew Singh elaborated that the game is being officially ported over to the Switch via a third party company called Vitruous....

The kraken in Sea of Thieves is real and players will be able to fight it, according to Eurogamer. New images leaked to Eurogamer show the kraken in full force attacking boats and drowning players in the open seas. Player’s apparently can’t predict when or where the Kraken will strike, but they will get notified about it when it is in the local area. Players will know that the kraken is in the area when the nearby waters turn murky black....

You don’t have to spend money to play The Sims Mobile—but things move a lot faster if you’re doling out cash. A new report from intelligence firm Sensor Tower reported The Sims Mobile players have thrown a ton of cash on the simulation mobile game. The Sims Mobile has earned more than $15 million in worldwide player spending in the first four months of its release. The Sims Mobile launched on March 6 for Android and iOS devices....

Germany’s official ratings website (USK) has put up a listing for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Game of the Year Edition. This is a sign that CD Projekt RED plans to re-release the game in the near future. As you can see via NeoGAF, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Game of the Year Edition has been rated for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. The rating was only done as recently as June 22nd, 2016 so this means we may see the game very soon....

If there is one genre that feels out of place on an Xbox, then it would be JRPGs. However, it appears many will soon have to change that assessment because a rather surprising JRPG will be making an appearance on the Xbox One this spring: Ys Origin. This surprise comes from courtesy of developer and publisher DotEmu who specializes in porting older games to modern systems. Nintendo’s stand-in president Tatsumi Kimishima will be stepping down from the company in June. The move was announced during Nintendo’s latest financial report, with Kimishima set to be replaced by Shuntaro Furukawa, the outside director of the Pokémon Company and current Nintendo board member. Kimishima is not the only high profile president to be stepping down from his role. Satoru Shibata. the president of Nintendo of Europe, will also be stepping down and joining Nintendo’s board of directors....

About a month ago, it was reported that Tencent was looking to own a big chunk of Ubisoft. Now we know that its investment is more of a roundabout move to raise its stake in the company. Tencent isn’t taking over Ubisoft, but it is increasing its number of shares. Axios’ Stephen Totilo reported the news on Twitter. “[Tencent] is investing heavily in [Ubisoft,]” he writes, “announcing a new €300 million investment in Guillemot Bros, the company run by Ubisoft’s co-founders....

Minecraft’s caves used to be a single biome, but that has since been split between two distinct cave systems — Lush and Dripstone. Each of them has a unique look and feel to them, which as always, rewards exploration and offers different challenges and rewards.
