It seems like the New York Times Company wants to join Microsoft’s and Sony’s spending spree by purchasing a little corner of the gaming sphere. The New York Times magazine owners have announced today that it has purchased the web-based hit Wordle for a price “in the low seven figures.” This announcement comes hours after Sony announced its acquisition of Bungie, and less than two weeks from Microsoft’s purchase of Activision Blizzard....

BigBen and Frogwares have announced that The Sinking City has a new release date. According to the publisher and the developer, the game has been taken away from a too crowded AAA-season. So the main reason is not linked to a particular technical issue, but to the too many AAA releases early this year. “With so many games set to come out over the next few months, and after the massive AAA release overload of February, the team has decided to release their game in a less crowded time-frame,” Frogwares said in a press release....

Periscope camera came into existence with the Huawei P30 Pro earlier last year. It was the first phone with a periscope telephoto lens system but we have since seen the same make its way to Galaxy S20 Ultra back in March. And now, Chinese firm O-Film today showed off a periscope camera module with continuous zoom functionality. The continuous zoom feature is not the only highlight of this camera module. In a strange marketing move, Kamiya explains that The Wonderful 101’s major feature isn’t the game’s length, but it’s fun factor. “If you hate to finish a game the next day you buy it, you better not play TW101,” the developer wrote via Twitter. “I focus on how it is fun, not how long it lasts til the ending.” These initial tweets have once again caused some controversy for Kamiya. That seems to not be stopping anytime soon as they have now a new trademark in Japan of one of their older franchises: Tactics Ogre. The name Tactics Ogre: Reborn has been trademarked by the developer. This was originally noticed by a Twitter user by the name Renka_schedule. Tactics Ogre: Reborn is likely the title being used for a remaster or remake, as none of the games in the long dormant series have that exact name....

ININ Games has announced that Taito Milestones for Nintendo Switch is releasing on April 15, both physically and digitally. The game is a collection of ten Taito arcade titles from the 1980s, digging deep into the Japanese studio’s library to deliver a set of games that are perhaps unknown to the modern gaming audience, but were important releases in their genres. Taito Milestones brings together ten of Taito’s 80s arcade games, including classics such as Qix....

Google rolled out the first developer preview of Android P just a couple of days ago and one of the most concerning changes in the updated OS is the removal of custom overlay support. The feature, which was introduced with Android 8.0 Oreo, allowed users to install custom Substratum themes without rooting their devices. However, the much-loved feature didn’t make the cut in the first Android P developer preview. “Google introduced Sony’s Overlay Manager Service (OMS) in Android Oreo, letting us install custom themes using the app “Substratum”, with the need of root permission....

Tencent has noticed the studio’s success, and it now owns a majority stake in the company. Announced on Tequila Works’ own website, Tencent has acquired the studio by purchasing a majority stake. Tequila CEO Raúl Rubio is excited about the opportunity this affords. “For 12 years, the teams have passionately crafted high-quality titles that radiated our personal sensibilities,” Rubio stated, “but there’s a limit to how much you can grow by yourself....

The Last Remnant Remastered was released in December 2018 for PS4, and most people assumed that was all we’d hear about this mostly forgotten Square Enix game for now. However, today at the Square Enix E3 press conference, a Nintendo Switch port of the 2008 game was announced.
